Early Sixties 4
| Thought I would share this photo with you. It was
taken in march, 1963, and is a group of musicians from Chitose who entered
the all army entertainment contest in 1963. It included a rock and roll
band, hillbilly band, and a trio of folk singers. Their names are,
standing, L to R, Hershell Olson, Terry Larson, Sgt Thomason, Sgt Cassady,
Sgt Smith, (first names unknown) Jim Forst, Craig Dix; (kneeling) Mike
Mikkelson, Dick Hunt, Chuck Berg, Bill Murphy, and Mike Dennis. I am Jim
Forst, second from right, (standing). I was stationed at Chitose from
April 62 to December 63, and was assigned to Dependant Housing Supply at
Chitose 1 for the entire tour. I played electric bass in the Rock and Roll
